The contractors came today to finish up on some work in the Basement. The laid the carpet, and finished a few other things as well, such as attaching a light in my display area, and putting down some shelving. I had a redder color wood for the shelving area, but decided to go with a black colour, as it will match the Shelves I have more closely. Now back to me to do some more painting, and to purchase some baseboards, and paint them up. I also have to scrape some ceiling stucco off some of the walls and get those primed and painted also. It was so messy down there, so it was nice to get all the garbage out of there, and clean the basement up a bit. Will make it easier to move some things around, and I will not be trailing dust and dirt around the house after making a trip to the basement.

Carpet looks very close, probably as close as I was going to get, and over time it might fade a bit and match closer to what is already in the basement. I will continue painting the walls, I am painting them a cloud gray and quite happy with the colour so far. I think with White baseboards, should look very sharp.

So I am hoping over the next month I can get my painting finished, and then once the Baseboards are done, I can start moving things down there, and getting things setup. Really looking forward to the day, when I can have my collection setup, and can show to people who come over.

Yay

Today we got an extra hour do to Day Light Savings Time. So I spent it not being overly productive. There is a few more things I can do in the backyard, but I will save that for some other day. Well, unless it snows, then Cest la vie. I need to start priming the basement walls for painting, but I think that will be a project for next weekend. There are a few boxes of books and CD’s that I should unpack, so I might work on that. It might be alright as well as I can flip through them a bit and look at them, since they are mostly Star Wars and Star Trek books. I also like Organizing my CD’s, call me OCD, but I like to put them in Order of release and Artist.

I still have a bit of TV recorded to catch up on, this morning I watched the final Formula 1 race from Abu Dhabi. Real cool looking track, some interesting racing near the end for second, but for the most part it was the locale that was interesting to me. Some of these F1 tracks look like something out of a Video game. The one things I really love about Formula 1 is the in car cameras, with my TV and HD, you really do get to see the excitement of being in one of those cars. I love it every time they cut to one of those cameras. I wish every car was mounted with one, and someday maybe have a channel or feed devoted strictly to those. Just really great stuff. After that I watched the last half of the Nascar race from Talledega, Typical plate racing, with a few big wrecks at the end. Looks like Jimmy Johnson pretty much has the championship wrapped up again. I don’t watch a lot of Nascar races, but things like Talledega get me watching. Maybe partly as waiting for the big wreck, but also reminds me of my online racing sim days, and all the laps I put in at Talledega in the Sierra/Papyrus Nascar Racing game. Those were some fun times, and not sure how many online races I did at Talledega, but it was by far the one I raced the most. I just got Forza 3 the other day for my X-Box 360, so over the winter months, looking forward to putting in some time with that. 3 Nascar races left, Texas is up next, but will skip that as don’t care for that track. Will watch Phoenix, as I like that track, and reminds me of my Online Sim days as I had a big Victory at Phoenix.

Days is moving away, so I should get to something else. I picked up reading again, and maing some good progress on the Star Trek book I am reading. I will have to go to the book store and get a few more books, and hopefully I can get back on pace to at least 1 book a month.

A quote from Calvin and Hobbes on Weekends, I pretty much believe this.

“Weekends don’t count unless you spend them doing something completely pointless.”

Today was one of those days where it felt like it happened 20 years ago. In the morning I went out for Dim Sum at Jumbo, always good, and have gone so much lately. After we headed back to my place, as Jason wanted to check out the DVD he just authored for Pegwarmers on different DVD players so he knew it would work, and then start getting copies made.

After that we decided to play some Wii Williams Pinball Classics. I had bought the game a few months back, and for a discount game I have gotten my money out of it more then a few times. I think this is the best Pinball game I have ever played on computer or console. Dave, Paul, Jason and I played a bit of a tournament of all the tables on the game. Dave stated that who ever lost would get a flogging, well I guess home table advantage did not help me, as I seemed to lose the most games, as I think I came in last place 4 times, but fortunately the floggings never happened. Dave has memories of Space Shuttle, as he played that when he was young at the Arcade in between games of Robotron. Dave is the best player I have ever seen in Robotron, as he can play for hours…though he has not been able to set high score on the Robotron on X-Box, but I will not try and hold it against him ;) . Since I have a high score on Space Shuttle pinball game, Dave was determined to beat it, and I thought for a minute, that he would as his first game, Jason and him racked up the points, but not enough. Dave did manage to set high score on Taxi though, he did leave with his initials on at least one game. That is what Dave does, he comes to your house, and beats your high scores and then sleeps on your couch :) . It was fun playing, and we all remembered the old days of the arcades, and Jason told us all the stories of Dave’s accomplishments at Wizards Castle in the 80′s.

Later Dave, Tao tao and I went for dinner at Capitol Pizza, it had been a long time since we had gone. The Pizza was alright, and it is weird to say, but I feel they put to much on the pizza and could do with more cheese. We talked about some fun things, Dave and I talked about collecting a bit, and how he has a Star Trek Assault Phaser coming, that he accidentally won on eBay, he got a great price, to bad it was at a time that the dollar is so low. Tao tao told us about how peoples names are handled in China, I am not sure if I still understand, and that she has a boys name. All in all a day well wasted, Jason will be coming over later today watch the final F1 race from Brazil, and then in the next few days we will record our final race review for 2008 for Champodcast.
